1. Whiteflash – Best for service, high quality diamonds and designer engagement rings
Google Review: 5 stars
2150 Town Square Pl #330, Sugar Land, Houston, TX 77479
Things are bigger in Texas. With Whiteflash, they’re brighter. They focus on providing some of the very best quality diamonds on the market, and offer designer engagement rings from esteemed jewelry houses, from Tacori to Simon G., in their ranges. Not only do they operate in Houston, they also have a dedicated online site where diamonds and jewelry can be viewed through 4K images and video.
The thing that impresses me about Whiteflash is that they have the largest collection of Super Ideal Cut diamonds, alongside one of the biggest ranges of in-stock diamonds. Not only that, all of their diamonds are either AGS or GIA certified. Their in-house collection, A CUT ABOVE®, provides diamonds with the some of the world’s best light performance abilities, which means buyers will gain some of the purest, most beautiful diamonds on the market.
I’ve been able to craft an in-depth review of Whiteflash due to my interest in their work over the years. Head to this page to discover all you need to know about this fantastic diamond jewelry retailer.
2. Blue Nile – Great selection at a lower price point (lower quality generally)
Google Review: 3.5 stars
5085 Westheimer Rd Suite B3556, Houston, TX 77056
Blue Nile are the pioneers of online diamond retailing, and boast the largest diamond inventory, with a huge variety of diamonds to choose from. In short, they are:
- Multinational and well-trusted;
- Known for collaborations with esteemed designers;
- Able to provide items for any budget.
Blue Nile’s in-house collection is the Astor™ diamonds; they are GIA-certified diamonds. For a full review of Blue Nile, head to my review of their services here.
3. Brilliant Earth – Best for Lab Diamonds
Google Review: 4.4 stars

If you’re curious about lab-grown diamonds or you appreciate their much lower pricetags, Brilliant Earth is the place to go. Shaftel Diamonds
5706 San Felipe St Suite A500, Houston, TX 77057
With more than forty years of experience within the diamond industry, Shaftel Diamonds know what makes a good diamond. They sell diamonds wholesale while also offering manufacturing services, creating custom fine jewelry. It seems that, at Shaftel, there is something for everyone, whether you’re looking for loose diamonds or other gemstones, custom designs, or even pre-owned pieces. Plus, with an average of 4.9 stars from hundreds of reviews, you know you’re going to get good customer service.
One thing that stands out at Shaftel is their focus on providing high-quality engagement rings. While there offering of jewelry is undoubtedly wide, my eyes were constantly turned toward the quality of engagement rings. This is mirrored in their Bridal collections, where tastes of every type will be able to find something that suits them.
In terms of pricing and after-sale guarantees, these are both fair. You can find very affordable pieces, and the guarantees they offer are standard across the industry.
Dubin’s Fine Jewelry
5444 Westheimer Rd #1428, Houston, TX 77056
With a 5-star average given by over 180 reviews, Dubin’s Fine Jewelry is another must-see. Fans of family-owned businesses will be in for a treat here, as Dubin’s is fully family-owned, founded by Lenny Dubin, and managed by him and his son, Jordan Dubin, who is a certified graduate gemologist from the Gemological Institute of America (GIA). Together, their work at Dubin’s promotes the concept of making it ‘impossible to miss the sparkle’, by offering a full-service, private shopping experience.
Their specialty is engagement rings and wedding bands, with a wide variety of intricate designs. Fans of other gemstone types, such as emeralds or sapphires will also be able to find something for them at Dubin’s. Upon inspection, the prices of these items are also widely varied, and so a range of budgets will find something within Dubin’s fine wares.
Dubin’s also offers a quite unique, ‘Bring Your Own Gems’ service, alongside appraisals, repairs, polishing, setting, and re-sizing services. All of their services, however, are underpinned by a very high level of customer service (which seems to be the common inclusion in most reviews I’ve read through).
James Avery Artisan Jewelry
Various locations
James Avery Artisan Jewelry includes the word ‘artisan’ in their title for a reason. Founded by James Avery in 1954, these jewelers are dedicated to overseeing every part of the jewelry lifecycle, from design to manufacture to sales. With jewelry pieces created in one of their five manufacturing plants (in Hondo, Kerrville, Comfort, and Frederiksburg respectively), James Avery take great pride in their designs being cherished by happy customers.
With a wide offering of over 14,000 items, including rings, necklaces, chains, bracelets, and much more, many a satisfied customer has left one of their stores with a wise and beautiful investment. There’s also a wide variety of collections offered by James Avery, including a line of Christian jewelry which could be the perfect present for family members.
Silverlust Jewelry
Google Review: 4.9 stars
For the more eclectic taste, Silverlust Jewelry is the place to go. Many would argue their designs are counter-culture, with many rock n’ roll-inspired pieces. While true, this only scratches the surface, as Silverlust offer a huge range of designs sourced from across the globe, from Bali to Egypt to Mexico. This is due to their position offering pieces from international vendors alongside their own in-house designs. Everything they offer is quality, and their good reviews speak for themselves.
Another thing which I enjoyed when perusing their wares is that they offer some very good information on how to properly care for jewelry, including tips on cleaning and maintenance. You can tell that Silverlust creates a caring approach to jewelry retail, one that combines passion with utmost professionalism.
Pineforest Jewelry
Google Review: 4.9 stars
Another of the best diamond jewelry stores in Houston is Pineforest Jewelry. Founded in 1986, they offer a full-service, dedicated approach to jewelry retail, ensuring customers get exactly what they’re looking for.
They offer a myriad of services, from manufacturing custom designs to repairs and even ecommerce. Plus, they also offer loose diamonds (which I always see as a distinct advantage when choosing a store to shop at, as it most likely means they truly know their stuff when it comes to diamonds).
Alongside conventional jewelry offerings such as rings and earrings, Pineforest also provides broaches, intricate charms, dainty anklets, and watches, which are all impressive in their own right.
On top of this, one thing that stands out within their reviews is their obvious dedication to customer service, but also their easy, relaxed approach to diamond retail. This is important as, sometimes, diamond jewelry shopping is stressful. Having an experienced and relaxing presence to help guide you can be a priceless advantage.
Houston Jewelry
Google Review: 4.7 stars
Houston Jewelry is one of the oldest jewelry retailers in Texas, being founded in 1866, meaning that for over 150 years they have been providing jewelry services for the people of Texas and beyond. Today, their website boasts an impressive array of fine jewelry, from engagement rings to even lab-grown diamonds.
Those looking for trustworthy and knowledgeable diamond retailers should check out Houston Jewelry. With their undeniably large amount of years working in the jewelry business, this is a place that knows exactly how to cater for customers.
Additionally, if you’re looking for loose diamonds, Houston Jewelry will be a good choice, as they are evidently knowledgeable about what makes a good diamond. They don’t advertise their jewelry online, which to me shouts exclusivity, so I would recommend heading to their store and perusing in person. You’ll surely be impressed by their grand, high-quality offerings.
Eklektic Jewelry Studio
Various locations
Eklektic Jewelry have two locations in Houston—Montrose, and River Oaks—in which you can find beautiful custom-made jewelry, with many containing unique and, well, eclectic design choice. It’s a good choice of name for the kind of wares they have.
They offer a smaller range than some of the stores listed here, but that doesn’t make what they do any less impressive. Unique designs are their forte, especially when it comes to the custom-designed jewelry you can purchase. A big plus for potential buyers is the prices, as Eklektic offers some of the most affordable pieces within this list. On top of that, their diamonds are GIA certified.
Eklektic offers:
- A one-year warranty period.
- Re-sizing.
- Mounting.
- Repairs.
For those looking for suit accessories, they also offer an interesting range of cufflinks. Perfect for a wedding, perhaps?
Jonathan’s Fine Jewelers
6222 Richmond Ave. #435, Houston, TX 77057
Trustworthiness, customer service, and a relaxing shopping experience—these are the things that Jonathan’s Fine Jewelers have been offering for over twenty-five years. Their standout offerings are their custom-made and antique jewelry, alongside being a premier wholesale loose diamond buyer and seller, which includes a ‘no-pressure buying experience’.
They also operate an Ebay store where you can peruse their items online.
Rice Village Diamonds
2376 Rice Boulevard, Houston, TX 77005
If you’re looking for a modern, clean, and professional buying experience, Rice Village Diamonds are the retailers for you. They offer products from several well-loved, respected, and admired brands, such as Ritani, A. Jaffe, and Forevermark. All of this is delivered with top-quality service, on top of some very useful maintenance services, such as engraving and rhodium plating.
One thing I noticed while researching Rice Village is that they focus on a speedy delivery of their services for their customers. It was a point that kept coming up time and time again, amongst many positive reviews. So if you’re strapped for time, Rice Village Diamonds will offer the expedited service you’re looking for.
Zadok Jewelers
1801 Post Oak Blvd suite 100, Houston, TX 77056
Exclusive to Houston, Zadok Jewelers excel at offering both in-person and online services. A family-run business, they boast a large range of some of the finest jewelry available, including some particularly impressive Swiss watches. Zadok are very customer-friendly and have developed the kind of family-ran intimacy you might expect from a local bakery, which is something nice to see in a world of massive, international retailers.
The reviews note that Zadok Jewelers refuse to create that pressured environment common to many retailers who just want to make a quick sale, a type of behavior that only ends up turning off potential buyers or resulting in a hastily-made decision the buyer ends up regretting. So if you’re looking for the point where luxury meets intimacy, Zadok is for you.
Houston Diamonds
5727 Westheimer Rd Unit H, Houston, TX 77057
Durability and design quality are the top focuses for Houston Diamonds. If a piece is beautiful, that’s great, but if that beauty doesn’t last, what’s the point? This is something Houston Diamonds understands implicitly. And they are honest about what they believe makes great jewelry and a great buying experience. This honesty is reflected in their reviews, with many customers including the phrase as something they appreciate about the retailer.
Admittedly, their website is not the best place to gain a view of the kind of items they have available. However, once you head into the store you’ll find that Houston Diamonds offer a fantastic array of jewelry. Furthermore, they offer ring resizing, bead restringing, gemstone mounting and many more services that will keep your diamond jewelry looking brand new.
Inter-Continental Jewelers
6222 Richmond Ave. #570, Houston, TX 77057
Inter-Continental Jewelers was founded over forty years ago and now serves Houston and other Texan cities, such as Austin, San Antonio, The Woodlands, Sugarland, and Pearland. Their focus is on providing custom and high-quality jewelry at wholesale prices. Alongside their physical stores, they also have a dedicated online presence for those purchasers who prefer perusing from the comfort of their own homes.
They also provide a service in which you can create your own diamond jewelry or ring through their website, which I always think shows dedication to offering the customer exactly what they want, which is enshrined in their testament of ‘If you can create it, we can dream it for you’. This is music to the ears of many, but even better is the fact they can cut up to 70% off of retail prices because they manufacture on-site.
One thing that stands out about Inter-Continental Jewelers is their down-to-earth and heartfelt approach to diamond jewelry retailing. They exhibit an intimate knowledge of their products and are much closer to the design and manufacturing process than many larger chains.
Other Online Recommendations
Now, not everyone prefers an in-person experience, or may be unable to get to a physical store. Because of this, I thought I’d include two of my favorite online diamonds sellers; Blue Nile and James Allen.
James Allen
While Blue Nile started online diamond retailing, James Allen perfected it with their cutting edge diamond display technology. While other vendors have since caught up, James Allen have continued to build the virtual shopping experience with ‘actual size’ on the hand images and real-time virtual diamond inspections. They offer:
- An enhanced online shopping experience;
- Huge inventory of diamonds, including some unique ‘fancy’ shapes;
- An impressive inventory of engagement ring designs.
James Allen appeal to a range of budgets and their large inventory of diamonds spans from lower quality right up to their TrueHearts™ collection of Hearts and Arrows diamonds. For my full review of James Allen, head to this page.
